Midweek Highlights!

Here are some highlights for the middle of the week. Just a heads up: there are a ton of prayer requests and praises at the end of the email. If you are too busy to bring them before God now, save the email and pray about them at a better time. Thanks!

1. Moving! - Dave and Leslie Zimmerman are moving to their own home tomorrow! If you are available to move some boxes, meet at 2258 Henry St at 2PM tomorrow, Thursday. It is directly across the street from the Tradewinds car lot (SE corner of Henry and Hackley). Park in the back of the white house next to the car fix-it place. Call Dave at 231-720-9917 for more info.

2. Offering Collectors - We are putting together a schedule of students and adults that would collect the offering each Sunday. The big idea is to help students see Celebration as their church and to help adults see their role in the lives of our children. Contact Matt or Kathy Meyer if you would like to be involved.

3. Sunday we will talk about what happens when we pray. We will use Acts 12 as our framework. We also look forward to Thursday, May 2, the National Day of Prayer and the start of our 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting. Sign up for your one hour timeslot at church. We have so much to pray about! Thankfully we have a great God who hears and answers our prayers!

  • Pray for Joyce DuRose (Steve’s mom). She is having health problems.
  • Pray for Classis that meets at church Thursday, tomorrow.
  • Pray for Derrick and Sabrina Busch, nephew of Tim and Nancy Bosma. Sabrina had a procedure to help her carry a baby to term but has just suffered another loss of a child.
  • Pray for Makenna Hentschel she is doing well and is home but there are some concerns with the infection on the incision line.
  • Pray for Josh Commans (boyfriend of Kadence Ribbens) he is very ill and is entering into finals exam week.
  • Prayer of praise!! Justin Schut’s wife Samantha was able to find a job while Justin finishes school.
  • Pray for Jesslyn Thebo and Max Nicoles as they were in a car accident that totaled Jesslyn’s car. They are sore but okay.
  • Pray for Cheryl Ferguson as she travels to visit Jenna.
  • Pray mighty prayers of mercy and blessing over our country, our community and our church.
  • Pray for the leadership at Celebration as they make decision to move forward. Pray for God’s mighty hand to guide them and that they seek his will.
  • Pray for the release of two churchmen and for a cessation of violence and persecution in Syria. Bishop Yohanna Ibrahim of the Syrian Orthodox Archdiocese of Aleppo was kidnapped on Tuesday, April 23, on his way back to Aleppo from the Turkish border. He went there to bring back Bishop Boulos Yazaji of the Greek Orthodox of Aleppo. The news received is that an armed group stopped the car and kidnapped the two bishops and killed the driver. Bishops Ibrahim and Yazaji are well known as agents of peace and justice, not only for Christians in Syria but for all the Syrian people.

4 Important Things

They say that Spring is coming! Maybe next week! So, while we wait for Spring to get here in force, here are 4 important things to know this week.

1. Prayers:
- Makenna had surgery on Tuesday and Lacey said: "She is doing better today. The oxygen is off and her respirations are better. She is awake, alert, talking, and eating." Yea God!
- Justin Schut and wife - They are finishing school and job hunting in CA.
- There are always prayer needs in the Sunday Program. Keep your bulletin to remember them during the week!

2. Sunday: Guilt is like garbage - everyone has some and nobody wants it! Sunday we continue our series "eMotion Pictures" as we talk about the guilt in our lives. (Psalm 32)

3. Upcoming Events:
- April 18 - Sidewalk Astronomy at 7:30PM
- May 2 - National Day of Prayer
- May 4 - Work Day at Church, 9-Noon
- June 6-9 - Missions of Mercy in Saginaw

4. Maundy Thursday we were encouraged to choose 2 people to make a difference in their life in the next week or two. Have you followed through on your assignment? There is still time!

Sunshine in Muskegon!!!

Is that really sunshine in Muskegon? Finally! Check out these 7 things for this week!

1. Sidewalk Astronomy, April 19 - The Newago County Dark Sky Astronomers will help us explore the beautiful universe that our God made. They will be in the Celebration parking lot at 7:30 or 1 hour before sunset.

2. Prayers: For those who have been through surgeries and those about to go through them. For resolved conflicts and those who need to make some steps to resolve conflicts in their life. For the safety of those on Spring Break. For the simple miracle that Makenna is now 2 years old! And for the many unspoken cries of our hearts that our God knows!

3. New sermon series: eMotion Pictures - God made us with emotions. They are part of who we are but sometimes they are confusing. They get distorted. They get destructive. But that is not how God made them to be. That is not how he made us to be. Through the use of recent movies, we will look at several emotions God has given us, how they can be distorted, and how we can use them to do great things as God has planned all along. THIS SUNDAY: ANGER!

4. Classis Muskegon Meeting at Celebration - Representatives from the area CRC churches will meet at Celebration on Thursday, April 25. We are in need of 2 things: 1) your prayers for our sister churches in the area and 2) snacks for the meeting. Contact Pastor Matt or Connie Cerminaro if you can help with either or both of these needs.

5. 2013 CRCNA Prayer Summit, April 15-17, in Lake View Terrace, CA. Last year the Summit was a powerful witness to the power and moving of the Spirit of God among His people. "Your Kingdom Come" is the Summit focus. Pray for God to do great things in our world and that he might use us too!

6. Volunteer at 2013 Mission of Mercy in Saginaw, MI, June 6-9 - Not everyone can afford or has access to dental care. A Mission of Mercy is a 100-chair dental clinic with portable dental stations that will be set up at Saginaw Valley State University to serve nearly 2000 patients! It will provide dentistry and caring for the underserved adults and children in Michigan: cleanings, fillings, extractions, limited root canals and treatment partials dentures.
NOT A DENTIST? THERE ARE ROLES FOR EVERYONE! We as Celebration hope to take a group to Saginaw on Friday or Saturday, June 7 or 8. Contact Connie Cerminaro to volunteer for this important project. http://www.milemichigan.com/foundation/MissionofMercy.aspx

7. Bridges, Not Walls - Sir Isaac Newton was quoted as saying: “We build too many walls and not enough bridges.” As a pastor, there is nothing better to hear than when someone begins to tear down a wall between them and another person. It makes my week when I hear that a person actively makes attempts at building or repairing a relational bridge. That bridge may not be like the bridge that was broken but it no longer takes all of the energy to maintain it. This happened this week! This is just one reason why I love Celebration!
