6 Things to Know This Week

Happy Mid Week Celebration!  Here are 6 important notes for the week.

1. Sunday --> BYOB!: The rise of passionate-less Christianity leads us to the story of Elijah on Mount Caramel from 1 Kings 18. It will be helpful to follow along in your own Bible so bring it on Sunday!

2. Care Elders: Each year we divide the members and regular attenders into 4 groups.  It is easier for the needs of the congregation to be met this way.  These are the present groups listed by LAST NAMES:

  • A-C: Susan DeBoer
  • D-K: Marc Baird
  • L-R: Doug Bergman
  • S-V: Sue Vredevoogd
3. Vacations: Both Holly and Pastor Matt will be on vacation this next week.  If you have questions or are in need of care, contact your Elder.  (See previous note!)

4. Men's Group: This Sunday, June 23 after church anyone is welcome to brainstorm/discuss/talk about restarting the men's group. We will meet in the front of the stage.

5. Future Events:

  • July 25 – 27 – Church Campout (tentative)
  • August 4 - Church picnic

6. Prayers:
  • For Jerry Singleton, father of Brenda Doctor, and his family. He is going to have surgery on June 21st to remove Bladder Cancer.
  • For Jan Zimmerman as she recovers from Colon Surgery.
  • For Sandy Rings friend, Val who just had a hip replaced but is in ICU with health complications.
  • Prayers of thanks that Jim Workman is OK after being in a car accident that totaled his car.

Celebration Mid Week

Celebration, Here are a few announcements for this week!

1. Strawberries: Join us today after the worship service to celebrate Father's Day with strawberry shortcake!

2. Call: Has God ever asked you to do something completely out of your comfort zone? Is this your story right now? Invite a friend on Sunday as we look at God's call to his people through the story of Abraham (Genesis 12).

3. Prayer Partners: We have been asked again this year to be prayer partners with Calvin CRC's Serve Team. We have 5 boy and 5 girls this year that need prayer partners, small gifts and support during Serve in July. Please consider partnering with one of the teens from serve this year.

4. Prayers:
  • Reyes' Aunt Gloria is going in for emergency open heart surgery Wednesday. Also pray for Reyes' sister Yvonne that she remains faithful even in difficulties regarding her health.
  • Please continue to keep Jena DeWolfe in your prayers. She is doing very well, getting A's and B's in school, participating in sports, and handling her emotions in more productive ways. Pray that she continues to grow and learn in placement.
  • Please be in prayer for Mike Straley as they have found some heart issues during his stress test today. Please pray for the skilled hands of his surgeon, for healing and comfort.
  • Please be in prayer for the Erickson family. The lies of the enemy have entered their marriage and have brought them to divorce. They have 4 small children who are frightened and very confused right now.
5. Thanks: Our 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting has been a wonderful experience for me and hopefully for you too!  Let us know your stories of how God spoke to you during the past 40 days!
