8 tHINGS tO kNOW - aPRIL 23

Here is a thought to start your day: “Am I the only one who gets embarrassed when religious leaders in America talk about having prayer in public schools? We don’t have even that much prayer in many churches! Out of humility, you would think we would keep quiet on that particular subject until we practice what we preach in our own congregations.” -"Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire" by Jim Cymbala

1. Group Life News

- Book Club will next meet on Tuesday, May 13 at Russ' (Henry Street) at 6:30. We will be discussing "The School of Essential Ingredients" by Erica Bauermeister.
- The Seekers Small Group will meet this Sunday, April 27 after church before they break for the summer months.
- The Small Group with No Name will meet Sunday, May 4 after church

2. Work Bee, Saturday, May 3, 9AM - Spring is when we clean up the building God has given us. There is plenty to do both inside and outside! Contact Jim Ring
or Eric Fifolt for more info.

3. Adult Ed Sunday School at 9:00AM! - The class will continue their study of the book of Revelation!

4. Congregational Meeting on May 18 - We will select elders and deacons as well as the revisions in our church bylaws. Attached are the revised bylaws so you can read them The proposed revisions are sections in red print.

5. New Pictorial Directory - Connecting with others is important for community. That is why we hope to create our own pictorial directory before the start of summer. What we will need from you is: a picture of your family, your address, phone number(s), and an email address you check regularly. Please send your information to Pastor Matt or Sandy Ring within the next 2 weeks. We will take a picture for you if you have no current pics.

6. Baby Beck - Help bring Baby Beck home. Brandon and Charlene Beck have set up a fundraiser on Facebook but you can also contribute directly to the adoption process. Send a check to "Bethany Christian Services", attention: Lizabeth Merrick, 1848 Sherman Blvd, Muskegon, MI, 49444. Write checks to: Bethany Christian Services with a note stating that it is for the Beck Family Adoption.

7. Sunday - How do you have a spiritual conversation with someone who believes in karma and reincarnation? New Age spirituality is the largest segment of un-reached people in our area. Join us as we begin our new series "What's the DIFF?" to be more sure of the gospel of Jesus Christ and be better equipped to reach out to our new age neighbors.

8. Prayers - Here are new prayer requests since Sunday and continuing requests:
- For Terry Lacy who had an intestinal virus which caused great pain and discomfort. He is doing much better and thanks everyone for their prayers.
- For Pastor Matt's cousin Joan had back surgery this week. Please keep her and her family in your prayers.
- For the Bergman's whose family dog of many years died this past weekend.
- For those who are sad or in a funk the last few days.
- For the many people who attended church this past week for the first time in a long time. May God's Spirit continue to lead them to a new life in Jesus!
- For those planning marriages for this summer.
- For those walking through divorces.
- For the leaders that God has prepared to be selected at the Congregational Meeting in May.
- Brenda Grabinski’s recovery from knee replacement surgery. She is feeling quite well and thanks everyone for the Meals that have been delivered.
