6 Things To Know This Week!

We have created "Welcome Gifts" for our guests each week at Celebration!  Every guest can get this gift by filling out a Communication Card and bringing it to the Information Booth.  We want you to be informed so that you help our guests.  Also, if you as a regular attender want a "Welcome Gift", simply donate $5 and you may have one too!  Thanks.

1. Noteworthy Events
- SUNDAY, Summer Kick-Off Hot Dog Roast - Stay for food after worship!
- June 10, Book Club - We will meet at Chilli's to discuss the book for May which is “The Whip” by Karen Kondazian.  
- June 19-21, Church Campout in Scottville - There is a $30 deposit to reserve your campsite.  Contact Sharon Bergman for more info.
- August 5-8, Unity Fest - You can get discounted tickets ($20 - 1 day, $35 - 3 day) if you order by May 31.  Contact Robin Harper for more info.

2.  Youth Ministries
- June 7, Summer Sunday Nights, The 6th-12th grade students will gather at Calvin Church at 6:00PM before going to Mike & Connie's for swimming, beach activities, Bible study, and most importantly the Ice Cream Sundaes!  We will return to church at 8:30PM.

3. Sunday Someone once said, “If a man has a religion he is bound to do one of two things with it: give it up or give it away. If it isn’t true, he must give it up. If it is true, he must give it away.”   Invite a friend as we start our new series of giving away our faith: "Mission Possible".(Ephesians 6:10-20)

4. Thin Hallway - For the next 2-3 weeks we will have a thin hallway to get to the bathrooms and the nursery.  We ask for your patience and courtesy as we navigate the transformations in our building.  I am sure that some day we will all look back at this "1 butt hallway" and laugh!

6. Prayers  
- Pray for Lynn Pluger who will begin treatments due to her Hodgkins Lymphoma.  She and Paul (husband) are hopeful since she has been battling this for the last few years but there may be financial difficulties to come.
- Pray for Jackie Knight's grandfather who was given 3 months to live because his liver is failing.  He lives in California.
- Morgan Evans gives praise to God because her cancer is still in remission. It was a long journey of chemo, radiation, stress, pregnancy, and weight loss over the past months.  But a healthy child, Michael, still brings her smiles and praise.
- Pray for safe travel for Mike Straley to his family in Utah.
- We praise God that he healed Rex Allen from his open heart surgery 9 weeks ago
- Pray for Reyes' mom Zoila who has some medical problems.
- Jim Espinoza’s surgery on Thursday, May 28.
- We praise God for the building progress and all of the little ways God has brought this vision of Celebration to be a reality.
- Prayer of thanks for Robin Harper's mom whose open wound is healing well.
- Brenda Doctor asks for prayers for her health issues.
- Ray and Eddie Anderson will make a trip to Florida for a week for their grandson's high school graduation.  Pray for safety and a great time with family!
- Pray for patience during our time of the "1-butt hallway".
- Patti Lacy is recovering from her fall over her walker.  
- Patti's nephew is recovering from burns from being electrocuted twice while working as a volunteer fireman.
- Congratulations to Becky Fredrickson whose granddaughter got married last week.
- Congratulations to Ezekiel Kinney who turned 16 on Sunday.
- Pray for all teachers and students so that they may finish the year well.

Celebration Midweek - May 20

This coming Monday we will celebrate Memorial Day.  Many of us will put out flags and go to a neighborhood parade.  WHY?  On this day we remember the lives lost in serving our country. People died to allow us to enjoy the freedoms we have.   Freedom isn't free.  So, we thank God for all those who went before us and paid that price for you and me!

1. Noteworthy Events
- SUNDAY, Pray for Muskegon - This is a Sunday where we will lift up the needs of Muskegon to God.  Contact Pastor Matt if your time slot does not work for you OR if you would like to sign up for an hour to pray for Muskegon.
- MONDAY, Memorial Day

3. Sunday - This week we conclude our series of the "Things I Wish Jesus Never Said."  Wouldn't have been so much simpler if Jesus had not said, "Love your enemies"?  (Matthew 5:43-48)

- Pray for dependable transportation for many friends and family.
- Pray for those who have visited but we haven't seen around Celebration for a while.  We hope that they might "land" at a church home elsewhere.
- Jim Espinoza’s surgery on his wrists went well but is left wrist will need another surgery on May 28.
- Pray for the events that the Fellowship Team is planning.  We pray that they are exactly what the church needs.
- Pray for summer vacations and safety for those who will be travelling.
- Pray for teachers and students who are trying to hold things together before school gets out for the summer.  My hope is that the students will still learn something!
- We praise God for all those who work as servants at Celebration.
- We praise God for the building progress and all of the little ways God has brought this vision of Celebration to be a reality.
- Pray for the Nepal earthquake victims and their families
- Pray for those with heavy workloads that God would give them true rest.
- Pray for those struggling with addictions.
- Pray for churches without pastors and their searches.  May God bring the right shepherd to them.
- Pray for Robin Harper's mom who has an open wound that needs to be shut under her arm.

Celebration Midweek - May 13

Did you know that we have created the Midweek Email almost 2 years ago?  Hopefully it has been helpful for you.  How can we make it more useful and enjoyable for you?  Hit reply and send us your thoughts.  

1. Noteworthy Events
- SUNDAY, Annual Congregational Meeting - All members are invited directly after church to this meeting where we will cover the following: Selection of Church Leadership, Financial update, and the update on the Building Process.
- SUNDAY, Fellowship Team Meeting - We will meet at the circle table on the balcony following the Congregational Meeting.
- May 24, Pray for Muskegon - This is a Sunday where we will lift up the needs of Muskegon to God.  Contact Pastor Matt if your time slot does not work for you OR if you would like to sign up for an hour to pray for Muskegon.

Youth Ministries at Calvin Church.  Our ministries to students ages 4 years to 8th grade is on vacation for the summer!  It was a great year!  We look forward to the Little Peeps, GEMS, Cadets, and Middle School programs in the Fall.
- SUNDAY, High School Youth Group at Calvin Church, 6:00-8:00PM.  Starts with dinner!  Watch for the summer schedule coming out soon!

3. Sunday - How do we make sense of pledging our allegiance to our country God yet also to our God?  Are there limits?  Invite someone Sunday as we continue our next series, "Things I Wish Jesus Never Said."  (Matthew 22:15-22)

4. Glenside Community News
Dumpster Day - Saturday, May 16, 8am - 12 noon.  Dump your junk for free in the city dumpsters lined up near the entrance to McGraft Park. No yard waste or hazardous waste, please! Be prepared to show your driver's license as proof of residency.
- Glenside Yard Sale - Saturday, June 6.  Every year for the last 20 years, over 60 homes participate in this event that draws hundreds of shoppers to Glenside.  Contact Pastor Matt to see how you can help!  

5. YOU ARE NEEDED - You use Powerpoint at work or school.  Please consider using it at church as part of the Data Team.  Contact Pastor Matt or Eric Fifolt for more info.

6. Prayers  
- Pray for a referee friend of Pastor Matt's that was in a car accident and attributes his safety to talking with me the day of the accident.  He is curious about the Jesus he sees but is still skeptical.
- Pray for Reyes' mom Zoila who has some medical problems.
- Pray for Kyle, son (Step son) of Wayne and Jenny because "he has many battles in his mind."
- Pray for Lilia's co-worker who is very sick.  Another co-worker is anxious about getting a different job.  She also asks for prayers for healing and guidance and the peace of God.
- Pray for pastors who have been removed from their churches and continue to cause trouble for the congregation.
- Pray for dependable transportation for many friends and family.
- Pray for those who have visited but we haven't seen around Celebration for a while.  We hope that they might "land" at a church home elsewhere.
- Jim Espinoza’s surgery on his wrists went well but is left wrist will need another surgery on May 28.
- Pray for a guest who will begin treatments due to her Hodgkins Lymphoma.  They are hopeful since she has been battling this for the last few years but there may be financial difficulties to come.
- Please pray for Zach, teenage son of a co-worker of Sheri Doctor.  He is paralyzed from a dirt bike accident last week.
- Pray for the Nepal earthquake victims and their families
- Pray for those with heavy workloads that God would give them true rest.
- Rowan B. asked for prayers for her friend who is going through a tough family situation.
- Pray for those struggling with addictions.
- Pray for churches without pastors and their search.  May God bring the right shepherd.

Celebration Midweek - May 6

Here is one of my favorite quotes from Rich Mullins: “I am a Christian, not because someone explained the nuts and bolts of Christianity, but because there were people willing to be nuts and bolts.”  Let us always be mindful of just important we are in the journey others take with Jesus.  BE the gospel wherever you go!

1. Noteworthy Events
- SUNDAY - The Seekers Small Group meets in the Oasis Room after worship.
- THURSDAY, National Day of Prayer - There will be a morning prayer breakfast, noon rally at the County building, and an evening rally at Orchard View HS.  
- SATURDAY - Saturday in the Park, Noon-5:00PM - This event in McGraft Park links together area churches and non-profit organizations with the goal of meeting the many needs of our community.  We will hand out ice cream and cookies!  Doesn't that sound awesome?

- Pray for a guest who will begin treatments due to her Hodgkins Lymphoma early next week.
- Please pray for Zach, the teenage son of a co-worker of Sheri Doctor.  he is paralyzed from a dirt bike accident last week.
- Reyes wants us to pray for several unruly and rude passengers on his bus, including some who are Christians behaving in an un-Christ-like manner.
- Continue to pray for the Nepal earthquake victims and their families
- Pray for continued healing for Duane Blohm and Roger Doctor from their surgeries this past month.
- Pray for Patti Lacy as her knee surgery has been postponed.
- Pray for the "Saturday in the Park" event on Saturday at McGraft Park.
- Pray for churches without pastors and their search.  May God bring the right shepherd.
- Pray for Pastor Matt's friends Joe and Rachel and their unborn child, Jack.  Complications before birth can be quite unnerving.
- Rowan B. asked for prayers for her friend who is going through a tough family situation.
- Tim Dunning graduates this Saturday and starts a new job on Monday.  YAY!  His parents are quite proud!
- Pray for those with heavy workloads that God would give them true rest.
- Pray for those struggling with addictions.
- Pray for those dealing with workplace stress and disagreements with management.
