Celebration Midweek - Sept. 17

Andrew Murray writes in his book "Lord, Teach Us To Pray": "To be alone in secret with the Father: this be your highest joy. To be assured that the Father will openly reward the secret prayer, so that it cannot remain unblessed: this be your strength day by day." May you be blessed in God's presence today!

1. Annual Carnival, Saturday, September 27, 1:00 PM - Make sure that you have signed up to participate in this great event. We will distribute flyers on:
* Thursday (Sept. 18) at 6:30 PM from church.

5. Sunday - It is difficult to recover from the damage of sexual disasters. Join us Sunday as we discuss the need of guardrails in this area. (1 Corinthians 6:18-20)

6. Prayers - Please take time to pray for:
- Rick Zambon (grandson of Thelma's brother Tom Cook) who has adeno carcinoma and has a huge mass in his stomache. He will have surgery on Friday at Hackley Hospital.
- Those recovering from addictions. May God give them strength and friends to keep them focused on the wonderful life God has for them.
- Prayers of thanks from Darrold Pellegrom. He has been home recovering for awhile now & it's going quite well. Darrold & Lisa thank everyone for their prayers.
- Darla's mom would like to thank those who have prayed for her. She is getting good reports from her follow up with surgeon, but reading is a struggle & she's still pretty much shut in.
- Pastor Matt's former neighbor Judy had surgery last week to remove some growths on her ovaries. She is recovering and awaiting the tests of a growth they removed.
- Thanks for those who power washed the church this past week and cut the lawn recently. It is wonderful to see hard work change things to look beautiful again!
- Marilee Schut after her foot surgery. Pray for healing as she will be at home recuperating for 4-6 weeks.
- Pastor Walt and Marcia send their thanks for prayers and loving concern for them and their Son-in-law and daughter. This has been a difficult season for them.
- Back to Church Sunday! Pray for those contemplating going back to church, for churches to show abundant love and grace, and that life commitments will be made as Jesus makes old lives into new.

6 Things to Know This Week

1. Pray Muskegon on Saturday - The 24th is our day to pray for Muskegon County. Contact Pastor Matt if you haven't signed up for a time yet.

2. Basics For Babes - In order to keep this ministry going we are in desperate need of supplies: sleepers, blankets, receiving blankets, lotion, baby wash, diapers, wipes, pillow cases - just about everything for bays and girls! Thanks, Marilee.

3. Schools Out - There will be no Sunday School during the summer months. It will start up in the fall!

4. Sunday - New things are frustrating if you don't have someone to help you with those frequently asked questions. It's the same in your journey with Jesus. Invite a friend on Sunday as we start a new series "How Do I...?" as we continue to master some of the basic areas of the Christian life.

5. Events
June 1 - Hot Dog Roast - You won't want to miss this time to connect with new friends and re-connect with old ones!
June 8 - Love INC Fundraiser - If you do lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings on June 8, 20% of your bill will go to Love INC! We attached a coupon in case you get hungry.

6. Prayers - Please pray for:
- Our elders and deacons, especially our newly selected leaders: Elders Tom Dunning and Sandy Ring and Deacon Pam Williamson.
- Barb Hoekstra (friend of Pastor Matt's) who is battling Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She has just completed her round of chemo and will start radiation in June.
- The family of Margaret Workman as they hold the funeral at Ferrysburg CRC on Sunday, May 25 at noon.
- Ruth Hinajosa's son Shannon who is going through some hardships. Pray that God will guide him where He wants him.
- Duane Gray as he continues to have health issues.
- Duane Blohm who is having shoulder problems.
- Our guests at Celebration lately. Wherever they are in their journey, we pray God's peace on them in their search for him and a church home filled with God's people.
- Those who care for parents as they proceed into the "winter years" of their lives.
- Those who have bumps, bruises, skinned knees, other ailments and are basically in need of some TLC.
- For a pastor friend of Pastor Matt's who is under a lot of stress and is dealing with his internal issues including depression.

If there were only 7 things you needed to know this week, the following 7 things would be it!

1. Prayers - Cheryl Ferguson had a successful surgery on her neck this morning. She is recovering at Mercy and is due to go home on Thursday.

2. Must See TV - If you watch the History Channel, you may want to check out the miniseries titled: "The Bible". It gives a theatrical summary of the entire Bible. It will run for 5 weeks, ending Easter. Check your cable stations for time.

3. Wild Game Dinner - Don't forget this annual event on Saturday, March 16! It is geared for men and boys of hunting age. Appetizers start at 5PM and dinner at 6PM.  Contact Roger Doctor if you have more questions.

4. Passion Week - Who will you invite to our Easter worship? Make sure you pick up your invitation at the Info Booth on Sunday. Also, plan to take a "Journey to the Cross" at our Maundy Thursday service on March 28 at 7PM.

5. All You Really Needed to Know - Wish that someone would summarize for you all that you really need to know in life? Our present series of Sunday messages focuses on the essentials in life that you cannot do without! Invite someone who needs to hear it!

6. Basics for Babies - We are starting a ministry for newborn babies! Babies within our congregation and those in need throughout the community! We are looking for gently used or new clothing, diapers, and all of those other basics that every baby needs. Contact Kathy Meyer for more info.

7. Bigger Better Boat Team - Continue to be in prayer for the team as they direct the progress toward Phase 2 completion. Our plan for Celebration continues to take shape for worship in this old car dealership we call home. However, the more important thing is that we seek how we may fit into God's plan for this area of Muskegon. Thanks for talking to our great God about this!
